Learning Base
Step-by-step lessons. Each one builds something that works, then points you to the manual pages behind it.
Basics
Your first Patch: a MIDI note on every beat
Connect to the players, pick a deck, and send a MIDI note on every beat. This covers the basic Source → Device → Trigger → Output chain.
10 minBeginnerReading the live data
Every value a player sends has a name, called a data key. Learn to find keys, use them, and override them to test a Patch.
8 minBeginnerFader start: the mixer starts the deck
Open a channel fader on the DJM and the CDJ plays from its cue point. Close the fader and it returns to the cue point. This lesson uses triggers and CDJ actions.
10 minTimecode
Send timecode from a deck
Turn a CDJ's playhead into LTC, MTC or Art-Net timecode for lighting desks, video servers and DAWs. It follows pitch, loops and scratching.
10 minIntermediateFollow a DAW or console (timecode in)
Make ShowKontrol follow LTC, MTC or Art-Net timecode from a DAW, video server or lighting desk. Cue lists and outputs run on that clock.
10 minShow control
Fire a lighting console from the music
Send GO to grandMA3, MagicQ, ONYX, Titan, grandMA2 or any MSC console when the music does something. Templates fill in the addresses.
15 minIntermediateYour first cue list
Add a track, put cues on its timeline and make them fire when a CDJ plays that track.
15 minIntermediateMap any button to anything
A tablet, MIDI pad, Stream Deck key, foot pedal or contact closure can fire any action in the app. The pattern is the same for all of them.
10 minScripting
Running shows
Phone, tablet and Stream Deck
Show the decks and cue list on any browser on the network, control the show from a phone, and add a Stream Deck.
10 minIntermediateShow files, backups and a second machine
Keep each show in its own session folder, recover anything from backups, and run a second machine that takes over if the first goes down.
